Counting down

I had a word with TF BodyCombat headteacher after class today.. There's something big coming up in end July.. The date to look out for is 26 July, but nothing is cast in stone yet..

I will begin to shadow/team-teach BC44 week of 12 July onwards for 2 weeks... I will update the class in the box above, if you want to join any of the class I am team-teaching with, by all means come and do give me feedback as a member would feel okay?

Because I dont know how members think cos what I think and what they think are totally different in class.. Different expectations, different feel, different energy level, or if I am clear and precise, timing right or not.. Yea?

A little bit more than a month to go.. THIS is my journey of becoming a full fledge BodyCombat instructor.. a little late, but better be late than never right?

Huggies. :) Have a great week ahead!

Teaching in Fitness First?

I have managed to get in touch with someone in Fitness First that could possibly allow me to shadow and subsequently team-teach in Fitness First.. but before that, I want to clear at True Fitness first.. then only with that, I go over to FF..

My first shadow/team-teaching class in Fitness First The Curve could be 12 July at 7.45pm..

Maybe only ha... Haven't approve yet one...

Clearance

I have heard people around me advising that I should really do my clearance in BC44/BC43 given that the next release BC45 is going to be a lot tougher..

If everything is alright, I hope to do my clearance in True Fitness by end July, that again, I am not sure if I have to do my LesMills video certification as well in July (90days ruling??).

There's still a lot of things I want to fine tune first before even considering clearance, after clearing in TF, I planned to clear in FF also.. lastly CF, because CF being CF, it's sucks in their instructors management..

Geez.. I am so confused..

Bodycombat 44 launching

The launch this morning was awesome.. The studio was packed.. Nobody stood me up, luckily.. Everyone made the effort to come.. my assistant went too :)

I received my first ever Venum shorts ordered from France, costing EUR25.. straightaway changed into it.. More photos will be coming soon once those people responsible uploaded them hahaha..

This release... I am not sure if I want to hate or like it.. It's like neither here nor there.. Maybe I could be doing my clearance in 44 afterall.. I am not sure.. it's still fresh.. I haven't fully memorise the entire release yet unlike 43 which I am sick off already.. Almost puke listening to 43.. haha..

So yeah.. will spend this coming week to familiarise myself with the classes before requesting permission to shadow and then team-teach the new release...

Is it me... or...

-- I am sorry I have to rant about tonight's incident in the gym here.. just couldn't get off my mind.. --

Sometimes I wonder, is it me, is it the members or is it the venue?

Somehow, I keep on making mistakes week after week.. I think I will drop team-teaching at Pavilion from my schedule.. This class is very, very stress.. aerrghh... In return it make it me stress also..

I did track 7 and 8.. 7 was good.. no problem, but comes to 8, everything fell apart.. It was so bad.. SO so so bad that I cannot continue.. double arghh!!

That was the last class of BC43.. I swear if I have a choice, if I decided to do clearance in BC44, I will not listen to BC43 anymore.. Now I understand why the seniors said about being sick of the release..

Tomorrow is the launching of Bodycombat 44 in Jaya 33 at 10am.. I have prior to this, done a couple classes already on the new release, and I think I find it much better and welcoming than BC43 but may not be easier to memorise.. Thats a problem..

Sigh.. I am kinda disappointed.. I feared I may have let the members down.. Maybe I should stay away from this class for a while...

But above all that.. an aunty came up to me before class and said she enjoyed this class the most partly because I am teaching and she is beginning to like it.. I feel so honoured.. Sadly, she has to leave because her shoe gave way totally during class.....

But before she walked out of the studio during break time, she called out to me and wave bye bye... At least in my heart, I know there's someone in Pavilion class that liked seeing me on stage, and I know for a fact I did not fail Giza class as well.. As for Taipan, I think I am still okay there.. although nobody explicitly said they like my class.. For Hartamas, naah cos I only taught in one class in Hartamas, so its too little to give comment..

Class Update

Hi folks,

My last class of BC43 before then launch..

  • Fri 6.35pm at Pavilion, tracks 7 & 8

See you!

Shadowing and Team-teaching BC44

It's confirmed..

I will be shadowing the new BodyCombat release starting week of 28 June, and then start team-teach some tracks the week after..

Altogether, I should be able to start teaching a few of the new tracks by July.. And ONCE the 3-weeks new release is over, I will work on clearance, maybe will focus on the minimum 7 tracks required to clear to teach in True Fitness..

Hoped to get cleared by end of July..

For now, all I can say is, BodyCombat 44 is awesome!! Awesome to teach that is.. hehe shared a couple tricks and secrets among instructors during the two sessions of tuition... and the end deal is, members will be grilled :P hahahahaa....

It's an awesome release so to speak..
(Lucas/Paul/Jeremy: after doing it a couple times and with and without shoes, I can say this new release is more exciting than BC43! :p Now I am really confused which release to do my clearance ahahah...!!!)

For first-timers: Introduction to BodyCombat

As a new and upcoming instructor, I take it upon me to introduce BodyCombat to as many people as possible and changing people's lifestyles.

Here's is the first part of introduction to BodyCombat..

BODYCOMBAT™ is the empowering cardio workout where you are totally unleashed. This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. Supported by driving music and powerful role model instructors, you strike, punch, kick and kata your way through calories to superior cardio fitness. Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYCOMBAT™ class is produced every three months with new music and choreography.

A typical class

Your BODYCOMBAT™ instructor will lead you through a series of moves from a range of martial arts, to a series of different music tracks.
  1. You’ll begin by learning all the moves that will be used throughout the class, and warming up your body and mind for the battle ahead.
  2. Visualise your opponent and unleash into a series of fight combinations. The focus is on speed, power and endurance. There will be time to recover as you prepare for the each phase, with a final fight for your life that will seal the deal on your fitness objectives.
  3. Finally, you will take to the floor and cap off the workout with some strength training. Then it’s payback time – stretch out those hard-worked muscles after your fight.

Benefits

  • Improves heart and lung function and reduces the risk of heart disease
  • Tones and shapes key muscle groups
  • Burns calories for a leaner body
  • Improves co-ordination and agility
  • Improves bone density
  • Improves posture and core strength and stability
  • Builds self-confidence

FAQ

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?

BODYCOMBAT™ is for everyone with moderate fitness levels. And because the moves are simple, you don’t need to be especially well coordinated. Just give it a go!

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE A CLASS?

BODYCOMBAT™ is addictive, but don’t overdo it. For best results try and battle it out two or three times a week.

WILL BODYCOMBAT™ HELP ME IN SELF-DEFENCE?

BODYCOMBAT™ is a non-contact fitness program, not a self-defence course. However fitness is beneficial in any situation.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

  • Comfortable workout clothes. Check out the Les Mills clothing range, designed with each of our classes in mind. My recommendation: wear light.
  • Gym shoes. We recommend cross-trainers over running shoes, because they’ll give you better foot support for the types of movement you’ll be doing in class.
  • Drink bottle.
  • Towel. BODYCOMBAT™ makes for sweaty warriors!
  • YOUR FIGHTER SPIRIT!!

For those who's planning to join a BodyCombat class, my advise is - just go, and enjoy the class!! Most importantly, have fun!

Upcoming class

After missing in action for 5 days over the weekend, I am back again!!

Fancy some sword actions? Then head down to Pavilion @ 6.35pm this Friday! If that is not enough for you, how about Giza @ 11.15am on Saturday?

Next week will be the final week teaching before the launching of the new release (for 2 weeks, no team teaching, but shadowing is upon approval, 3rd week onwards MAY be able to team teach the new release, but again, upon approval)..

I hope to be in the "approved" category as soon as allowed.. Sick and tired of release 43 also hahahaa... but my clearance is due leh... and in 43 I hope..

The morning screams

I taught 3 tracks in TF Hartamas yesterday morning at 7am.. There were 8 members and one of them smiled in the locker room as I hurriedly get dressed for work.. The class was energectic but I missed some timing as I kept on talking and cueing that I missed by a beat or two, tried to pull back but I guess I need lots of practise how to disguise mistakes hahahahah...

I won't be teaching until next week when I return from my holiday.. And it's confirmed I will not do my clearance this month..

TT in Taipan

I have been TT-ing for the um... 3rd week now, and I still have a loooooooong way to go to get things right..

Taught in Taipan tonite and together with me is someone shadowing.. So as I did Tracks 4 and 5, she shadowed me.. For a while, and for the first time, for an unqualified instructor, someone is shadowing me!! But I guess this only happens this one very particular time.. It can be years before someone is allowed to shadow me in the future.. years, yes..

The shoot -  I still have perfection problems.. To execute EACH shoot perfectly and in perfect angle, perfect timing, perfect cueing.. Imagine 4 whole rounds of shoot, by the time you reach the end of round 3, you practically cant feel your butt anymore.. What's more to maintain the same level of physique through round 4!

Track 5 was fine because it was my other assessment track.. I have been assessed before in this track and I agree I have progressed so much since training day 2 till today.. I kept the energy level high, really high, screamed into the mic to push members..I have never been so high before, and despite all that, I forgot one minor thing - to preview and precue in the first round of bodyrip.. ARgghhhH!!!! So busy giving follow-up cue that I missed the preview!!

And it's official - once BC44 is launched in True Fitness, I may or may not be allowed to shadow, depends on the headteacher on my performance.. No team-teach of BC44 will be allowed until week 3.. So 19 June onwards I will not be teaching until early July - when my video certification and TF assessment is due..

I have to warn here, tracks of highlights are...........T4 double shoot is nothing.. It looks complicated but it's actually easier than BC43 shoot.. T6 - Balancing.. need to have VERY strong butt muscles to carry out the balancing, on 3 levels, and hold.. T8 - is going to make your shoulders drop off from the jabs.. It's more than 128 jabs for sure.. T9 - the komodo dragon walk with modified alligator push up.. the push up part is easy, wait till the 4 levels of triangular choke, using abs muscles to lift the hip in level 3 and then lift and rotate the hip in level 4 while maintaining the legs as well as dropping it, the "choke"... This is when I think most members, 90% are likely to stop..

Ok ok.. enough about BC44 for now hehehe...

My next team-teach class is in TF Hartamas - this Wednesday 2 June, at 7am in the morning!!
