You know what I hated about BC46? It's that god damn funeral sounding track!
Which track is it? Track 6. The legs killer!
This fucking track make me screw up the entire thing! I'm so fucking screwed now. Someone passed that remark in the workshop that it sounded like taoist funeral with all the clings and the tings and what nots. I was so convinced that it does have resemblance..
What the fuck.. that fucking track just make me lose control of the whole class.. I'm done..
I condemned myself as I looked into the mirror.. if only I could have get that stupid funeral notion out of my mind, perhaps things would have been different..
Anyway, it doesn't matter now.. what's done is done.. I need a good nite sleep..

Clearance on 27th Dec
This is the one moment I am waiting for.. perhaps one of the most important chance I ever get.. there is no second chance..
On 27th, I will be doing clearance in Celebrity Fitness.. the gym (previously California Fitness) that I was with since 2004..
The tracks I am doing is a mixture of BC43, BC44, BC45 & BC46.. I am worried for 46 because I have not taught in 46 in any bit..
It's going to be tough but I have confidence in scoring this clearance.. Not over confident but just having faith..
If you are a member of CF, please come support me in Wangsa Walk 27 Dec at 7.10pm.. love ya'll..

After one month
It has been more than a month since I last put on the mic and go on stage since my overseas work attachment began.. In the last one month, I have only time to go for just one BC class, that's on the weekend where I just have to slam down the laptop and march myself to the gym.. and I then spend the entire night in the gym working out and wondering if it's really worth it to work 7 days a weeek (5 in the office, 2 at a cafe with wifi...)
But I guess I still pushed the class to the max this evening, making myself breathless by the time I finish 2 consecutive tracks (one combat and one power track)..
I am glad the people still welcome me, and my usual gang wasn't around.. so I guess it's fine.. I'll be back in 3 weeks time! :p
Leaving for a short weekend holiday before returning to Singapore for 10 days.. and then back to KL for Christmas..
Oh well..

Lost?
Hmm.. I realised I have not written anything.. given my hectic work schedule, I could only manage to went for one class in Singapore.. I haven't taught any class since a month ago..
This work arrangement that brings me to Singapore every other week is not helping my classes.. But I am not complaining because I feel that getting my classes in order is less important than work.. Somehow, cos the latter pays for my bills.. Thats about it I guess..
And this will continue for a lot more months to come, maybe I will seek relocation to Singapore? Maybe?

Bodycombat 46 Workshop
I say, "my legs are screaming!!"
They say, "tell it to shut up!!"
LesMills Asia Pacific master trainer for Bodycombat was in town and he conducted a class on Friday night.. I attended the class, given everything out as an instructor would..
Saturday, I had a pre-determined class in Fitness First with Bodycombat headteacher to fight for a spot in Fitness First non-members mentorship program which is the first of its kind in Fitness First Malaysia.. I gave everything, and the stack of Step boards gave way middle of the class and broke my favourite adidas water bottle.. and those boards just hit me.. Gosh...
I have a strong feeling that my chances are low because of my work schedule of flying here and there and not being able to stay put in one place.. I hate to put it that way, that half the time, half the month I am in KL and the other half I am in Singapore..
See? Work again.
Now, it's not that I don't like my work life, but at the expense of gym and my contact time.. It makes me feel sad.. I am nowhere here nor there.. I can't do as much as I would like to and I couldn't, probably not able to get clearance in Singapore as well due to the fact that I am also not always in Singapore..
Today was the workshop for Q4 in KLCC.. I only went for Bodycombat which is into its release 46 now.. Some songs grew on me quite well despite not the first time I hear them.. But I don't think I will ever like track 6.. 6 minutes of non stop evasive side kicks and esquivas are just too much for me.. The rest are okay.. Track 1 was again pretty long at over 9 minutes.. it hit on me.. and I like tracks 4 and 7.. surprisingly, because these 2 tracks NEVER were my favourite..
And with that, I have very sore thighs now from all those lunges, squats and what nots..
Time to plug those earphones once again and memorize the new 10 tracks.. but I wont know when my next class will be :(

Debutting in Fitness First
After a long series of Fitness First management debating whether or not to allow non-FF members to train and teach in FF, it has come to our benefit..
I will be making my debut "appearance" with the headteacher of Bodycombat Fitness First Malaysia this Saturday at Menara Manulife.. No doubt the studio is a very small one, but I have been in a FF Bodycombat class before.. and my, it's awesomely powerful!
:)
Work still takes a toll on me.. I am overworked and overstressed.. I need to kick somebody's ass!!!
Roaarrr!!!

Halloween Bodycombat
It was an awesome, awesome Halloween Bodycombat!!
The pictures will be slowly making its way into facebook with the multiple photographers around... but for myself.. this is what I dressed myself in..
It was a white Renoma basics tee, an old one that is.. I just cut loose the edges.. tore the sleeves a little, cut some holes in the front and back... and then prepare the red color... At first, I thought I want to wash it off, that's why I use chili sauce to make..
I only remember to snap the front, forgotten about the back, but I am sure, facebook will have at least one pic which shows my back!
But after pouring, then I realised I could do more, then I started cutting holes.. I could have used red paint instead, but I thought it's easier to wash if it's just chili sauce, if I would want to have the tee back in white..
But I threw it away after class.. lol...

Recognised?
Finally, a gym called me up to do 2 classes tonight back to back.. but unfortunately I wasn't able to take up the offer because I have promised to do the Halloween BodyCombat in Wangsa Walk Celebrity Fitness.. So I have to decline it..
And then the person asked if I would like to do a 3-hour BodyCombat Challenge.. again, I have to decline as I will be in Singapore for work..
These are all golden opportunities that present itself to me.. I am not sure if I will get these chances again..
I am not sure where my priorities are at this point of time.. On one hand, being recognised by other gyms is a good thing, but on another hand, work comes first? After all, my posting to Singapore is only temporary.. It's not that I don't want to to be promoted, but it's more of because it is based in Singapore that if I accept, I will have to let go quite a lot of things here in KL..
Double sigh..

New job posting
So, it's official..
I will take up my new posting in Singapore effective next week.. and my new role will see me leading the marketing dept of my company in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta - the 3 regions my company operates in..
Having said that, it has dawned upon me that my Bodycombat classes would be affected as well.. This posting could last a couple of months at the very least..
November is also the month I have scheduled for clearance in both Celebrity Fitness and guess what, True Fitness as well!
Funny isn't it?
Anyway, I really don't know how my schedules will be like or when I will even be in KL.. My superiors have told me that it can be like probably just one week a month in KL or something like that...
While I won't reject this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, there's a host other things I need to consider about also.. Despite temporary, it also has an effect on my financial commitments, my gym, work and among other things...
Sigh.

Freakish Bodycombat
The gym is still deciding what the instructors should be wearing.. I was told that my attire "will be prepared"... hmm... I wonder... And I still have yet to know what tracks I would be doing!
Hmm..

Final Preparations
It has come to the final preparations..
Clearance in both Celebrity Fitness and True Fitness are in sight now.. all I need is a confirmation of assessment... And I hope the date of both gyms won't clash with each other..
For Celebrity Fitness, it may be soon (not this week, not next week, not the week after either).. I have one little thing to work on which is my pitch of voice.. Too soft he says.. But I am already screaming into the mic!
For True Fitness, it's tentatively on 8 November.. It's my second attempt.. I purposely select this date because it gives me ample time to prepare, and as well as push CF clearance to be after the Q4 Workshop but hopefully well before the Dec batch of trainees are churn out..
I really need to start teaching some class because it has been 6 months or 2 releases already, coming 3, and I really cannot lose out to the new batch of trainees from October batch as well as December batch.. I must get my green light in November..
I guessed I am prepared to go for clearance in both gyms.. As for Fitness First, the management are still considering to open up the slots to non-members who want to teach in FF, I would think while they are doing that, I will attempt clearance in both gyms first, and then only move in to FF to do clearance..
That's my best possible plans - and I hope no hiccups...

A test
I am not sure if I can resume back teaching..
But nevertheless, I should not be away from public eye for too long.. one week is too long for me....
I shall be doing two tracks on Monday class.. the 2 tracks I chosen are from my training release cos its the easiest ones for me to refresh my memory given that I have a very tight schedule for this weekend... Not that I particularly liked these 2 tracks, but its because I don't have to learn new tracks or look back at refreshing or perfecting techniques...
The lead instructor, who happens to be the gym's senior group exercise manager, will be assessing me and will let me know if I am ready for clearance in Celebrity Fitness...
Fingers cross... also, a test to see if my feet/toe is ready to be back in action after the bad cut last weekend..

Momentarily Break
I was taking a break from teaching owing to an injured toe when I accidently kicked against a roadside pavement, resulting in a chipped toe-nail with a deep cut and bruises along my feet.. That was one hell of a cut because the pavement is made of granite and was very coarse..
This was after I clean the wound.. the blood was still flowing then... Took a good 3 days to completely stopped bleeding..
I am not sure if I can be back on stage next week... depends...
I actually miseed being on stage...

Bodycombat 46 Review
This review is done by an instructor in New Zealand. Just for your reading pleasure. Note it is NOT my review. I am just sharing it, while taking cues of what is to be expected in the new release.
BODYCOMBAT 46
Presenting Team:
Dan Cohen (New Zealand)
Rachael Cohen (New Zealand)
Hernan Lopez(New Zealand)
Shaunna May (United States)
I'll admit it.
I was very, very, VERY nervous about this filming.
I have good friends who are regulars at BODYCOMBAT, and being away from the Central gym this time around (and unlike BODYJAM, BODYSTEP and BODYATTACK, the smaller gyms like New Lynn and Takapuna don't get to see the new choreography until launch) I didn't get a chance to experience the release prior to filming. I had asked them to give me some feedback on what BODYCOMBAT 46 was like, and there was a natural hesitation. Reason being? I didn't hear much that was all that positive.
I kept an open mind going into the filming, since after all, I'd only spoken to a few people and hey, the first time I saw BODYJAM 55, I didn't like it. And the first time I saw BODYJAM 52, I hated it. Both of these releases have turned into two of my favourite Jam releases!
When the warmup kicked in, straight away there was an incredibly energy in the room. Track 1a and 1b for BC46, by far, is the best warmup I've ever seen for a long, long time. I liked Track 1b from BC45, even though it is quite a long one. The moment I heard that warm up, I thought, "Oh MAAAAAAAAAAAAAN this release is going to be AWESOME!!!", and I was totally geared up for a heart stopping release.
The theme of this release was encouraging participants to go into their warrior zone, and the warmup set that up nicely.
I'm afraid from there on though, most of the release didn't really hit my sweet spot. Track 2 was cute, and Shaunna May from the USA is a absolute ball of fire and bundle of energy, though to me, it was a bit too cutesy. There is an opportunity to have a bit of fun with the song and the lyrics with this track, though I'm unsure of the longevity of it. I'm also unsure of how such a track fits in with the 'warrior zone' idea of the release as it is, though maybe this track might work better when it is mixed with tracks from other releases.
I felt the same way about track 3. I was unsure about how the very 'lovely' style of song really suited the warrior zone theme of the release. It might work well when mixed with tracks from other releases, just like track 2, but it didn't quite go off for me the way that some of the other track 3s have done.
Here's where my brain goes to mush a bit and tracks 4 and 5 blur together a bit. I do know that one of them (I believe it is track 5 - a while ago I was certain it was track 5, but now I'm not so certain) was too strange for my liking. The moment I heard the beginning of the track, as soon as the choreography started, I just wanted the track to be over. I'm sorry... I don't like saying this, but I hated that track. I could very happily never do it again. Sometimes unique and weird sounding music (Warriors Dance from BC42, anyone?) works well in Combat, but I wonder if trying to be original and creative with this track selection may have backfired. I found it very difficult to draw any energy and inspiration from the music and the choreography.
I know I've made it all sound like doom and gloom though. It's not! Track 6, in my opinion, is AMAZING. With the lack of energy I felt from tracks 4 and 5, I got it back tenfold from track 6. It's heavy, aggressive, and really showcases the essence of BODYCOMBAT. It's the first track 6 that I personally have enjoyed since BC43. Track 7 for me was unmemorable (mind you... 'You're Shining' from BC44 was unmemorable the first time I did it, although the second time I did it, it became one of my favourite track 8s ever!), and I was waiting for track 8 to captivate me and provide a strong finish to the release.
The track 8 from BC46 is not one of my favourite track 8s. It might grow on me, like I said, with You're Shining.
The conditioning track has zero trickery to it. It's all simple, uncomplicated choreography, to the point where I was scratching my head going, "No... this isn't a Combat track? Surely Glen Ostergaard choreographed this? Is this supposed to be a bonus track for BC76???" It will be a breath of fresh air, particularly for the Australians who due to the PPCA have had nothing but alligator pushups for two quarters in a row. In fat, Rach intros this track by saying, "You asked for it, and now you've got it."
The cooldown ties in nicely with some of the choreography from track 6, which is quite cool.
Overall? The highlights of this for me are the warmup, and track 6. Shaunna May is a great presenter, and alongside Hernan, Dan and Rach, it was a great team. The four of them were donning the new range of LMI clothing, and my personal opinion is that while the t-shirts are nice, they're not special. LMI have also come up with a new range of Combat board shorts, which I'll leave you guys to form your own opinion of.
During the filming, there were a couple of stoppages - mainly where Dan kept upper cutting into his microphone (instructors - have you ever done this? I can imagine myself doing it, so it's probably a relief to know that it happens to even the big guns of the game!), and his mic belt kept sliding off. I'd taught RPM that morning, and I had the same problem, so I could empathise with him! It really is annoying and off putting feeling that belt slide down your body when you're trying to give it your all up the front.
I hope BODYCOMBAT 46 grows on me, I really hope it does. Though I am looking forward to doing that warmup again. I wish it was a proper working track rather than having it wasted in the warmup, but all the same, I can't wait to do it again.
It'll be interesting to see how I feel about the release when I see it again, as opinions change over time.
LesMills have a new program!
And it's called Sh'Bam.
Despite best efforts to keep the existence of this program under the radar in its pilot phase, news spread fast of a new program developing, and videos and false information started hitting the web.
It looks as though that's about to happen, and then the official showcase of Sh'Bam - with the filming of Sh'Bam 3 - will take place at GFX 2010 in November at Auckland.

Bodycombat 46 Tracklist & Youtube Links

Congratulations
Congratulations to the new batch of Bodycombat trainees, who graduated from KL Module Training BC45..
And another piece of good news came this morning - Fitness First has relaxed its rules and I will be among the pioneers who are not FF members to shadow, team-teach in FF.. More details will be informed to me once the management decides on the direction to go..
Cheers for the week!
Wangsa Walk members... don't forget... 1 November 7.10pm... Halloween Bodycombat Special Class...

Bodycombat Special Class
PK was in town for the current Bodycombat Module Training in KL... and he granted True Fitness a special master class, I went - only because I graduated under him..
PK is LesMills Asia Pacific trainer, born and based in Bangkok, and who has trained over 600 Bodycombat instructors.. He is a no-nonsense guy who can be very particular when it comes to Bodycombat but outside of class, he's really funny guy..
Thanks PK..
Yours truly me, I am in black shorts and black tank top in the front row.. beside the blue shirt lady...

Finding my right of mind
I began to feel that perhaps the decision to quit teaching in True Fitness is a good and wise decision.. Barely a month doing classes in Celebrity Fitness, I have gained fans and members who gives good feedbacks and encouragement after each class, besides the instructor..
I was invited to many of their gatherings, but because of work commitments and me being outrageously busy, I didn't managed to attend any yet, but I will try to make myself available to go to one this Saturday, if I can.. it's just makan-makan at one of the member's house..
I was just attending class this evening, and being late, I quietly enter the studio and stood at one corner.. I do not need to see the stage/instructor because I trained myself to look into mirrors and to listen.. and the mic was out today, so I had to take little glimpse of unfamiliar tracks..
For the familiar tracks, I was very confident of doing, and let the rest behind me follow me...
And after class, some members come over and say, "why didn't you stand with us? we reserved a spot for you seeing you entering the lockers"...
So sweet.. I mean, gaining acceptance is one, but because they don't see me as instructor but as friend, it makes it all the more loved..
I think I will just stick to teaching in Celebrity Fitness for now, and doing replacement classes at Synargym and Berjaya Sports Toto..

Synargym Again
I am covering for Kevin on Tuesday evening in Synargym Sooka Sentral, for the second time.. I actually quite like the class, but I don't like their sound system.. so cacated..
Anyway, I thought I wanna do a full BC45 release but I realised I hate it to do a full one, so I am going to mix it..
This is my remix for tomorrow's class... a good 51 minutes =)
T1: BC45 No Easy Way Out
T2: BC43 Love Drunk
T3: BC36 Magic Touch
T4: BC45 Take A Look Around
T5: BC45 Proud Mary
T6: BC43 The Black Pearl
T7: BC44 Mortal Kombat
T8: BC44 Your Shining
T9: BC36 Gonna Fly Now
T10: BC43 Sounds of Freedom
These are actually my compilation of my favourite tracks that I am confident of delivering.. if you look in the list, there's BC36 which dates back to 2007.. the release I was supposed to have gone for my training but didnt happen.. Yeah, that was those day.. That's why I can still do BC36 even though it was 3 years ago..
Yea.. it's gonna be a good, good night!

Class replacement
I will replace Kevin on Tuesday at Synargym, Sooka Sentral. This time I will do full BC45 release, not thinking of mixing it, if I got the time to fully learn up the weaker tracks.. if not then I will just mix it with likely one or two tracks from BC44...
The only thing is that Synargym has no stage and instructor stand with back facing members, thats how they want it, and I always get mixed up on right and left.. cos I have been doing instructor side in all the classes I go to.. either shadow or team teach... cos I dont attend as member anymore.. hahaha.. so its a tad little confusing :p

Thank You Wangsa Walk members!!
I am beginning to love Wangsa Walk members... Loving also Midvalley members...
I guess.. I was proven wrong about how skeptical Celebrity members are because of the fact that we used to go class together and today, I am teaching them instead..
After class today, a few came forward and give me 2 thumbs up!!! Saying how much I have improved from the last class.. It was only my second class in Wangsa Walk... and the first one I did was the first class of BC45..
Yeah... and now that I know more names in WW, I can use them to shout their names in class!!
MORE!!
FASTER!! MORE POWER!!! HARDER!!!
:)
Thank you once again WW members, I will be here with David every Monday until I do my clearance and get my instructorship asap!! And I do it because of you members motivate me to push myself further and harder so that I can deliver better tracks...

Cos it's a great, great night
I team-teach BodyCombat in Midvalley on Friday night, I guess practise really makes perfect? And preserverance really makes a difference right?
I got pretty good feedback from members and the lead instructor on my Friday class despite no aircond in the studio.. Only round 1 of the first track, I'm already dripping sweat! I can say, this is perhaps my best performance ever being on stage.. no doubt there's minor minor things still, but those are, well... minor =)
With that, I am confident to schedule clearance in Celebrity Fitness and hopefully get my own class slots to teach permanently before the end of the year... I have to.. the next release Bodycombat 46 is tougher and has surprises in it, and will be launched in gyms in early December... the date for new release workshop is on Nov 15... so... the launching should be on first week of December to middle...
I am hoping to do CF launching... can I?
And guessed what? I have also renewed my membership at Celebrity Fitness, which expires Sunday.. the new membership is RM179 passport (all Celebrity clubs) and has no expiry.. and payable every month.. This way, it ensures the gym have income every month - compared to gyms who collect dues upfront.. those gyms are doomed to fail.. as we can see a fine example was California Fitness... and now, the industry are saying another gym is heading this direction.....

Running Man
I realised "running man" in body combat has been the #1 search topic of bodycombat 45..
Although there is no reference to it, I'd like to enlighten everyone how "running man" is executed.. please note that my technique may not be entirely 100% accurate but at least, I am improving on my techniques... I am still learning after all..
Please excuse the poor quality as it was recorded using my mobile phone!!
Yeap... if you want to be really doing it in actual, please see your local gym timetable and attend a Body Combat class.. all gyms should have already launched the new release BC45 by now..
There's running man in track 1 lower body warmup but not as many as track 7 muay thai..

My Gym Membership
My gym membership expires 19 Sept..
I first joined a gym which was California Fitness Orchard Club back when I was a part-time student in Singapore.. I was paying cash monthly $60 on a student pass.. Very affordable, I would say..
Then when I returned to KL after completing my studies, I transferred my membership back to KL California Fitness.. That was the time I wanted to take up Bodycombat training, it was BC35.. Some issues and I did not proceed to the training..
Then Celebrity Fitness announced in mid 2009 they are taking over California Fitness Malaysia.. and hence, that's how now I ended up a member of Celebrity Fitness... and this term membership expires this weekend..
There's no guessing which gym I will be joining.. I cannot afford Fitness First.. And I totally do not want to join True Fitness because of the latest development in there and my misalignment with the management.. I have issues with them and until they resolve that and make it simpler for instructors to train and teach in TF, I will not go back there..
So, I am renewing my membership in Celebrity Fitness while pursuing my full instructorship certification in Celebrity.. I might even consider signing contract - something I was against a couple months back.. but now, a 2-months contract with Celebrity Fitness is worth RM5,000 and with promised number of hours classes..
Who wouldn't want that?
For time being, at least.. But I will read carefully what the contract says to avoid landing in hot soup.. I want to teach in other gyms as well as doing replacements and covers for other instructors..
Once I get my instructorship in Celebrity Fitness, my membership will then be suspended until such time that I decided not to teach anymore (which could in N years time), then only the membership will resume..
So... yeah... going to sign the membership renewal papers tomorrow in Midvalley club..
I heart Celebrity Fitness, formerly California Fitness..

Issues with True Fitness..
I have decided to stop training and teaching in True Fitness, completely, maybe..
Just gotten a call this morning from the management.. They are questioning me why am I there when I am not a certified instructor.. They said I have to get permission each time I go there to attend class, to train or to teach..
Well.. I began to suspect all these issues began after I did not pass my clearance in TF.. A lot of policy changes and stuffs like that - can see clearly now who is on who's side..
Anyway, with the latest developments, I am now officially announcing that I will only be teaching in Celebrity Fitness while Sports Toto Fitness will only call me for replacement/cover..

Special Theme Class
For the first time in my bodycombat journey, I will be doing theme class!
On Monday, 13 Sept in Celebrity Fitness Wangsa Maju, I will be team-teaching with David, the senior GXM of CF, in a theme class!
Monday's theme class is army.. Come dressed in army, I will be dressing in army top and army bermuda... something I have never wear to gym before.. and I will be delivering 2 tracks of the new release BC45..
True Fitness does not allow for non-certified instructors to teach the new release until 3 weeks later, but CF has no such rule..
This is one of the many steps I'm taking to tap into Celebrity Fitness more.. And I have also applied to teach in Sports Toto Fitness Centre, a gym owned by Berjaya Group, located on the 6th Floor of Berjaya Times Square.. I heard membership is free to all Berjaya staffs.. but for outsiders, I heard it's quite affordable too, at RM100 per month? I heard lah, don't hold me against my words :)
The GXM there said they will call me for replacement... as there is currently no demand for more slots than there already are.. so, its more of a waiting game =)

Bodycombat 45 launching in gyms!
Yeap, Bodycombat 45 will be launching today in True Fitness at 10am in Giza and Celebrity Fitness at 5.30pm in Midvalley..
Fitness First will be damn late, launching only on 20th Sept..
Also, the next round of BC instructors course intake will happen from 1-3 Oct in KL.. If you are interested, please drop me a line and I will help you sign up.. the fee is AUD$320 which includes training materials, cd and dvd pack, and assessment fees..
Again, so many people done the new release already and I have not heard anyone saying they like it.. Serious.. not even leading instructors like it... If you ask me, I only managed to like "snippets" of tracks... not the entire track but yea... some of it only...
But anyway, the good news is, Celebrity Fitness allows me to teach the new release alongside with certified instructors anytime! Which means, 2-3 weeks barring period is just not applicable in CF... now... after all has been said and done, I still feel most belonged, and most welcomed at where I came from... I am a CF member... since 2005..
I somehow don't feel fit in in True Fitness... you get what I mean?
THE MEMBERS MAKES OR BREAK YOU!
I'm saying this because I have a good time teaching in CF Midvalley last nite.. And despite WITHOUT mic, I believed I delivered my tracks well.. apart from missing 0.5 seconds of a bit and a little mix-up of chorey, other than that, members, very very veteran and regular, came forward after class and said, "you improved so much since last time!"
Without mic, I knew I still can deliver because its not about how loud one can shout, but rather doing it properly, clear strong execution and previewing the next move to members.. Anyway, I always have comments that I talk too much.. even from the master trainer himself in Bangkok.. So yeah, when I'm excited, I talk and talk!!
NOTHING EXCITES me more than members appreciating and acknowledging the fact that I am putting in tenfold effort to bring the class through.. They always say, track 1 is the most important track.. because there and then, everything can be seen from an instructor at track 1 itself, no?
I agree.
And bear in mind, this is only the 2nd class I'm doing in CF!

Back in the game
After overseas for a week to Taiwan, I am back.. and this time around, pumping up more team-teaching sessions in Celebrity Fitness while I give True Fitness a break due to the "tensions" in there..
I'll be having a team-teaching class in Celebrity Fitness Midvalley tomorrow evening as above.. At first I wanted to do older releases stretching as far back as a few years, but then again I thought, one night might not be enough to learn up a new track and deliver it to the best ability.. I had initially wanted to do Release 39 Track 1.. which is about 6 releases ago.. But anyway, scrapped - as I will just do my training release... R43..
Talking about learning new tracks, I have not even mastered the newest release yet! Oh how lazy of me!!
The launch will be held in True Fitness Giza, 4th Sept at 10am, while in Celebrity Fitness Midvalley it's at 5.30pm the same day..
I will be attending both launches, not permitted to teach yet..

Disappearance?
Have I disappear from the teaching scene?
TOTALLY NOT! It's just that I have to reduce a lot, a lot because I realised when I do a push kick, side kick and knee (my right, member's left), I can feel an excruciating pain at the thigh joint.. This was a result of an injury sustained during one of the classes in BC43 when the push kick was the challenge option.. I remembered I was teaching that track, and immediately I have to stop doing the push kick and just focus on talking..
Although I am still going for classes and teaching, I've cut down considerably.. it used to be 9 classes a week during the early stages of training, and now it's just 1, twice the most a week..
Whenever I lift my right leg up, I can feel it..
Anyway... I am still around.. looking forward for clearance..

Bodycombat 45 review
Please note this is only my personal opinion, and I'll write the highlights of the tracks only..
Track 1: No Easy Way Out
Already shoot is in this warm up track.. Goes like.. shuffle forward, jack in and out, shuffle back, step, shuffle forward, jack in and out, shuffle back, SHOOT..
Track 1b: Are you Gonna Go My Way
Lots of knees, running man knees, and front kicks and back kicks..
Track 2: Back to Innocence
Jabs and lots of knees, uppercuts and roundhouse.. a lot... this track is almost 5 minutes long!!
Track 3: Because The Night
Only a few release ago this song was in the warmup.. the only special thing on this track in this release is the slip right and left, to the music.. it's awesome.. There's jab, upper, travel jab, scissor, hook, sklp... long track again.. It's about cardio and driving the heartbeat shooting high...
Track 4: Take A Look Around
Balancing cat stand.. The butt will hurt damn lot... Trust me... Lunges followed by jump kick immediately.. fuuuu.... Remember the sword move from BC43? It's back in this track, but very fun move.. drama a bit also... lots of sword swinging.. :)
Track 5: Proud Mary
A fun track since Hairspray track a couple releases ago.. Really into the music... speedball is in this track.. and of course, the shoot.. and running...
Track 6: Russion Roulette
The ultimate leg killer.. sinking down into the legs and move forward, keeping the same posture, shuffle back.. this is an awesome, awesome leg killer... the thighs will shake after finishing this track.. with back kick and front kicks as combination.. For once, short instructors have an advantage here.. tall ones like me, have to sink even lower!
Track 7: Goin' Out Swingin'
I dont think I feel the muay thai music... doesn't really feel like muay thai track.. lots of knees and footwork, hooks...
Track 8: See The Light
I like this track the most in the entire release.. we have the power hook.. Jump forward on the second hook.. Start with cross, jab, cross... then add on uppercut.. Awesome awesome track..
Track 9: I Can Transform Ya
Alligator pushup is back!! And it's going to kill your arms.. lots, a hell lots of pushup.. tricep pushup to start with.. 16 alligator push up in one row, then stretch a while then back to push up again and followed by alligator push up again.. Explosive track to rip your chest apart..And finish off with sit ups, and C-crunch..
Track 10: Black Box
Nice cooldown track... Love it.. but yeah, nothing much... The song is catchy lah :p
That's pretty much about what I think of BC45.. overall I don't like it.. I wonder how am I going to teach it when I don't like it..
And I don't like people asking me, "eh you got solo class already ah".. I don't know if they ask in good faith or insulting me, knowing that in the industry I was not successful in my first attempt at clearance...

Q3 Kuala Lumpur Super Workshop
To be held tomorrow morning in KLCC Fitness Centre.. and I don't understand why they have to put BC as the first session to start at 8am!!
Gosh... I just hope I can recover in time for tomorrow.. it's only tomorrow.. and for the info, I pulled THE stupid thigh muscle again when doing knee/push kick... it hurts but I stand strong till end of the class...
And I walk slow cos it hurts... :(

Flop.
TF clearance.
Attempted.
Failed.
Nevermind, gathering myself again, rest, and rest and rest - I was super tired from my outing as a Metro Man Search 2010 contestant on Sunday..
I won't be team-teaching any class this week cos this Sunday is KL Super Workshop, need to wake up at 7am to go KLCC for the workshop.. And then the process of memorising BodyCombat 45 begins... I haven't really even master BC44 yet... or BC43..
I screwed up BC43 clearance ok. My major downfall is that I failed to correct a member who is doing it all wrong.. the rest are minor mistakes.. AND I ter-absorb a superhyperactive member's timing! I also don't know how it happened - but it did!!
FUCK.

Members clap
For the first time in my tt classes, members clapped after I finished my tracks.. Thank you Taipan!!
It's not always (perhaps never) that members clap in the middle of the class, I was doing Tracks 2, 3, 4 and when I finished and handing the mic back to my partner, they clapped.. I was so surprised, I switched back the mic on, and say "thank you guys, you all are awesome!"
There's no prize for guessing why I love Taipan members.. and I feel very empowered with the mic.
I hope Taipan members will show me the same level of energy and intensity on Monday... :)

He's good.. he's real good..
After my class in Giza Sat morning, as I was doing the review with my senior instructor who was giving me feedback and pointers on my coaching (a mock clearance that is, and I failed by his standard!), a regular member walked up to us and complimented me to my senior..
Don't stop. I like him. He's good, he's real good. And he doesn't stop.
This is a angmoh member, is a regular in this class.. Perhaps I've team-teach in Giza on Sat the most compared to any other slots.. so I pretty know this class well, quite well I would say.. Even though the members are not vocal and don't hiah hiah with me, but I find this class fun..
There's always new members and I tried very hard to make them comfortable and enjoy the class.. If they come back, I know I have done my best..
If they come up and compliment and say thanks - I know I have made their day and made a difference in their lives..
And especially so when I am under tremendous pressure to do the best I can... August is here.. my clearance in True Fitness and Celebrity Fitness is due this month..

It's confirmed
So the date for my clearance in True Fitness has been confirmed to one particular date in August.. It will be in Taipan club.. But I wish for no familiar faces to come because then it will give me unnecessary pressure..
Need to brush up asap on the weak areas.. Hope I pass on first attempt..

Awaiting
I am still waiting for the gym to confirm if I can do my clearance next week.. Clearance is to be clear to teach a whole class solo without assistance in a particular gym..
I would like to start clearance in True Fitness first, being the gym that endorsed my training and hence, I am indebted in a way to TF.. it will always be my homeground although I never have a membership with TF..
After TF, I plan to clear in Celebrity Fitness as well.. And lastly in Fitness First.. it's very strict in Fitness First and I want to be more familiar in teaching more solo classes first before actually considering FF.. The other gyms I heard need no clearance.. straightaway can teach.. hmm, but the problem is.. there's no vacancy at the moment.. :(
Anyway, I shall know tomorrow if my clearance in TF is confirned.. Sorry I will not announce it because I need to fully concentrate without familiar faces to disturb my concentration...

BODYCOMBAT 45 - Youtube Links
I'm happy to share the Youtube links for BC45 track list..
Pls note that it is not entirely accurate but to the best of my ability
... at least you get the idea of how the songs will be, at least to get a feel..
BodyCombat 45 Track List
1a. No Easy Way Out (Radio Edit) – DJ Fait
1b. Are You Gonna Go My Way (Ti-Mo Remix Edit) – Kato feat. Ian Dawn
2. Back To Innocence – Stephanie Smith
3. Because The Night (Breeze & Unknown Remix) – Cascada
4. Take A Look Around – Badlands Inc
5. Proud Mary – Dr John Henry
6. Russian Roulette (Blunatix Meets B-tastic Remix Edit) – Felix DJ
7. Goin’ Out Swingin’ – Turbo
8. See The Light (Styles & Breeze Mix) – Paradise
9. I Can Transform Ya – Chris Brown featuring Lil Wayne & Swizz Beatz
10. Black Box – Stan Walker
I liked T4 because it has appeared in BC38-T1 before..After listening to the songs, I like T6 and T8 also...T8 is surprisingly short with a little over 3 minutes compared to BC44-T8, a whopping 5 minutes plus, consisting of 5 rounds..
There's 3 tracks that there isn't any youtube reference, so no preview of the songs..
And the workshop for Quarter 3 in KL is on 15 August, for the very first time, KL Workshop will be earlier than Australia's Workshop... SO I guess it's even harder to download the video beforehand..!! Awww...

BODYCOMBAT 45
LesMills Kuala Lumpur Q3 Super Workshop - 15 August 2010..
Relaunching in gyms early September (I assume!)

1a. No Easy Way Out (Radio Edit) – DJ Fait

The Youtube links will be added once I get it.. and sizzler too..
I don't think I have heard any of these songs before.. and the Australian authorities are already imposing a 1500% increase in royalty fees payment to original music copyright owners for use of the music in gyms, which prompted LesMills to switch to cover musics? Need verification on this.

Why
I can't seemed to get it in my head.. off the head, in the car, in the toilet, at home, on the bed, I can do it perfectly.. but once on-stage, mind was blank..
It's not that I don't know the chorey, it's not that I don't know the timing, it's not that I don't know what to say, I just dont know how to explain it.. but the moment when I needed it most, I screwed everything..
Even myself I doubt I can do clearance end of the month.. Forget about video.. that has to wait.. I am not perfect, but at least I hope I am able NOT to screw up anything after teaching tracks upon tracks for so many weeks..
The only reason I can give is.. this is my first time team-teaching the new release.. 4 weeks of break really killed me.. I realised I cannot stop teaching.. this is what happens... 4 weeks and I screwed up..
No doubt my solo class last week wasn't even perfect but I managed to take the class through the 10 tracks of full 44 witth confidence..
Perhaps a class with NO expectation and NO pressure is easier to teach and cope compared to a class that's expecting me to be like my sifu.. I am sorry it's gonna be difficult for me to do that but still I really learnt and gained a lot from teaching with my sifu aka my mentor..
It's because of the super high expectations of the members as well as he himself that I am able to push myself further and beyond.. and I am still at infancy stage.. so much more work to do..
Sigh... I need a hug badly now..

Countdown
A 2-weeks countdown..
I am expecting to do my clearance in True Fitness at last.. Still waiting for the gym to confirm my booking.. But looking at it, I am not sure if I am ready.. even though I have taught one full solo class before but that one.. nobody to judge me.. so I don't know how well or how bad I was..
Hope to clear at first attempt..
I will also be recording my clearance to send to Les Mills for certification.. However I will only send it in after the gym has review the recording.. It's gonna cost me AUD50 to do this certification..
While arranging for TF clearance, I am also arranging to teach/team-teach in other gyms..
Wish me luck :p

Private coaching
Gee.. I still can't believe I actually did a "private coaching" session for a friend who missed the entire release of 44 as he was overseas.. Although not a full class, it feels different to be actually teaching a friend and explaining in details the moves, than to be actually on stage and teaching a CLASS..
Used an emptry studio in Midvalley Celebrity about 10.30pm on Fri (which is after a full combat class + 3 additional tracks).. Spent 5 minutes fiddling with the sound system because I am not familiar with Celebrity's sound system (which I still think Wangsa Walk Celebrity has the worst system and speakers of all time!).. At least the system in True Fitness is not difficult to operate..
It helps me learn as well as I teach because then it reinforces my memory in order not to lose face to friends hahha... these are the people I used to go class with.. and now, the tables are turned and I am teaching them instead?
In True Fitness, this wouldn't happen - because it is very obvious the members will reject the instructor whom used to go class with.. I am not sure about Celebrity but I have seen with my own eyes how this happens..

Virgin solo class
Gym: Synargym
Location: Sooka Sentral
Parking: outdoor.. RM1.50 per half hour before 6.. RM4 per entry after 6..
I arrived at Sooka at 5.58pm as I entered the parking lot.. KANASAI.. (in the end, my parking costs me RM6 for 2 hours...)
First impression of Synargym = the most beautiful gym I've ever visited.. The lockers are in shades of rainbow.. Yummy.. me likey...!!
The showers are like those in FF except that there is no latch on the door! But the door is autoclose by spring.. And the showers cubicles are like so modern lor.. It took me a while to figure out where the shower head is..
Turns out they have rain shower!! OMG... The shower head is above and not from the wall.. Hahah me so sua ku lor..
Yea.. FIRST impression don't always count... I don't like the gym feel.. Maybe its cos too empty with less than 20 people in the gym.. Undercommercialised maybe..
Okok enough about the gym... I have not heard before of this gym before today.. So.. hahaha everything is new to me..
Members of my Bodycombat leh.. I have 9 members and 3 of them are first timer.. So as I conduct the class, I have to watch out for the new members and make sure they did well.. Synargym has no stage.. so the instructor has it back facing the members - its how it is done here.. and its how the members want it.. They find it better to see as if the instructor is one of them..
Yeap.. I think the studio sucks and their sound system sucks as well.. a bit rusty.. and the speakers are not as good as TF speakers (hello... TF use BMG speakers ok....).. Luckily I brought along the BC44 cd.. cos they dont have the cable for iPod plug-in.. I actually thought I want to mix the tracks, but since the whole cd is on 44.. I also lazy to change.. so in the end, I taught the whole class the new release.. none of them has ever done the new release before, so I HAVE ALL THE LIBERTY to fry them.. especially in T8 haaha.. kene tipu punya level 4 and 5..
I was laughing just like how Rachel Cohen did in the DVD..
Now that's what I call ... EVIL :)

First solo
This evening is my first solo class.. I'm covering for another instructor who can't make it due to sick.. So many people sick these days.. Haihh..
Anyway, the class I am covering is in Synargym in Sooka Sentral.. First time hearing this gym.. Haha.. Since they don't have rules on mixing of releases, I am going to mix BC44 with one or two of BC43 to replace the tracks that I don't like.. Hahaha..
Haven't teach BC44 before so I am not sure what the outcome will be like, some more its covering for others, and also first time appearing there...
I shall cerita more later tonite..

Team-teaching BodyCombat 44
I have booked some slots already, this time in True Fitness, Fitness First and Celebrity Fitness over second half of July.. Once approved, I will post them up..
To me, BC44 is a lot easier compared to BC43 in many ways.. I am still struggling with BC43 actually to be honest.. I FAILED to catch the beat in BC43-T8, the power training 3.. I have never really like track 8 in any release actually..
The T8 in BC44 is so much easier.. and its fun to "cheat" members that it's the last round but yet we know there's 2 more rounds to go.. the music plays a big part here.. No need to talk alot also.. just go with the flow of the music..
I have a profound love for all track 9 in all release.. It's super cool that works the abs, upper and lower abs, and then push up (or sometimes you dont even have push up!).
And I have something important coming up end of the month which is my clearance in True Fitness.. I feel I am ready (or I might be ready) to do the clearance.. But I will not reveal the date until it is over because I want the class to go on as normal without any exponential increase in attendance..
The clearance is very important to me... lets hope I will not screw it up hahaha!!

Counting down
I had a word with TF BodyCombat headteacher after class today.. There's something big coming up in end July.. The date to look out for is 26 July, but nothing is cast in stone yet..
I will begin to shadow/team-teach BC44 week of 12 July onwards for 2 weeks... I will update the class in the box above, if you want to join any of the class I am team-teaching with, by all means come and do give me feedback as a member would feel okay?
Because I dont know how members think cos what I think and what they think are totally different in class.. Different expectations, different feel, different energy level, or if I am clear and precise, timing right or not.. Yea?
A little bit more than a month to go.. THIS is my journey of becoming a full fledge BodyCombat instructor.. a little late, but better be late than never right?
Huggies. :) Have a great week ahead!

Teaching in Fitness First?
I have managed to get in touch with someone in Fitness First that could possibly allow me to shadow and subsequently team-teach in Fitness First.. but before that, I want to clear at True Fitness first.. then only with that, I go over to FF..
My first shadow/team-teaching class in Fitness First The Curve could be 12 July at 7.45pm..
Maybe only ha... Haven't approve yet one...

Clearance
I have heard people around me advising that I should really do my clearance in BC44/BC43 given that the next release BC45 is going to be a lot tougher..
If everything is alright, I hope to do my clearance in True Fitness by end July, that again, I am not sure if I have to do my LesMills video certification as well in July (90days ruling??).
There's still a lot of things I want to fine tune first before even considering clearance, after clearing in TF, I planned to clear in FF also.. lastly CF, because CF being CF, it's sucks in their instructors management..
Geez.. I am so confused..

Bodycombat 44 launching
The launch this morning was awesome.. The studio was packed.. Nobody stood me up, luckily.. Everyone made the effort to come.. my assistant went too :)
I received my first ever Venum shorts ordered from France, costing EUR25.. straightaway changed into it.. More photos will be coming soon once those people responsible uploaded them hahaha..
This release... I am not sure if I want to hate or like it.. It's like neither here nor there.. Maybe I could be doing my clearance in 44 afterall.. I am not sure.. it's still fresh.. I haven't fully memorise the entire release yet unlike 43 which I am sick off already.. Almost puke listening to 43.. haha..
So yeah.. will spend this coming week to familiarise myself with the classes before requesting permission to shadow and then team-teach the new release...

Is it me... or...
-- I am sorry I have to rant about tonight's incident in the gym here.. just couldn't get off my mind.. --
Sometimes I wonder, is it me, is it the members or is it the venue?
Somehow, I keep on making mistakes week after week.. I think I will drop team-teaching at Pavilion from my schedule.. This class is very, very stress.. aerrghh... In return it make it me stress also..
I did track 7 and 8.. 7 was good.. no problem, but comes to 8, everything fell apart.. It was so bad.. SO so so bad that I cannot continue.. double arghh!!
That was the last class of BC43.. I swear if I have a choice, if I decided to do clearance in BC44, I will not listen to BC43 anymore.. Now I understand why the seniors said about being sick of the release..
Tomorrow is the launching of Bodycombat 44 in Jaya 33 at 10am.. I have prior to this, done a couple classes already on the new release, and I think I find it much better and welcoming than BC43 but may not be easier to memorise.. Thats a problem..
Sigh.. I am kinda disappointed.. I feared I may have let the members down.. Maybe I should stay away from this class for a while...
But above all that.. an aunty came up to me before class and said she enjoyed this class the most partly because I am teaching and she is beginning to like it.. I feel so honoured.. Sadly, she has to leave because her shoe gave way totally during class.....
But before she walked out of the studio during break time, she called out to me and wave bye bye... At least in my heart, I know there's someone in Pavilion class that liked seeing me on stage, and I know for a fact I did not fail Giza class as well.. As for Taipan, I think I am still okay there.. although nobody explicitly said they like my class.. For Hartamas, naah cos I only taught in one class in Hartamas, so its too little to give comment..

My last class of BC43 before then launch..
- Fri 6.35pm at Pavilion, tracks 7 & 8
See you!
Shadowing and Team-teaching BC44
It's confirmed..
I will be shadowing the new BodyCombat release starting week of 28 June, and then start team-teach some tracks the week after..
Altogether, I should be able to start teaching a few of the new tracks by July.. And ONCE the 3-weeks new release is over, I will work on clearance, maybe will focus on the minimum 7 tracks required to clear to teach in True Fitness..
Hoped to get cleared by end of July..
For now, all I can say is, BodyCombat 44 is awesome!! Awesome to teach that is.. hehe shared a couple tricks and secrets among instructors during the two sessions of tuition... and the end deal is, members will be grilled :P hahahahaa....
It's an awesome release so to speak..
(Lucas/Paul/Jeremy: after doing it a couple times and with and without shoes, I can say this new release is more exciting than BC43! :p Now I am really confused which release to do my clearance ahahah...!!!)

For first-timers: Introduction to BodyCombat
As a new and upcoming instructor, I take it upon me to introduce BodyCombat to as many people as possible and changing people's lifestyles.
Here's is the first part of introduction to BodyCombat..
BODYCOMBAT™ is the empowering cardio workout where you are totally unleashed. This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. Supported by driving music and powerful role model instructors, you strike, punch, kick and kata your way through calories to superior cardio fitness. Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYCOMBAT™ class is produced every three months with new music and choreography.
A typical class
Your BODYCOMBAT™ instructor will lead you through a series of moves from a range of martial arts, to a series of different music tracks.
Benefits
FAQ
HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?
BODYCOMBAT™ is for everyone with moderate fitness levels. And because the moves are simple, you don’t need to be especially well coordinated. Just give it a go!
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE A CLASS?
BODYCOMBAT™ is addictive, but don’t overdo it. For best results try and battle it out two or three times a week.
WILL BODYCOMBAT™ HELP ME IN SELF-DEFENCE?
BODYCOMBAT™ is a non-contact fitness program, not a self-defence course. However fitness is beneficial in any situation.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
For those who's planning to join a BodyCombat class, my advise is - just go, and enjoy the class!! Most importantly, have fun!

A typical class
Your BODYCOMBAT™ instructor will lead you through a series of moves from a range of martial arts, to a series of different music tracks.
- You’ll begin by learning all the moves that will be used throughout the class, and warming up your body and mind for the battle ahead.
- Visualise your opponent and unleash into a series of fight combinations. The focus is on speed, power and endurance. There will be time to recover as you prepare for the each phase, with a final fight for your life that will seal the deal on your fitness objectives.
- Finally, you will take to the floor and cap off the workout with some strength training. Then it’s payback time – stretch out those hard-worked muscles after your fight.
Benefits
- Improves heart and lung function and reduces the risk of heart disease
- Tones and shapes key muscle groups
- Burns calories for a leaner body
- Improves co-ordination and agility
- Improves bone density
- Improves posture and core strength and stability
- Builds self-confidence

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
- Comfortable workout clothes. Check out the Les Mills clothing range, designed with each of our classes in mind. My recommendation: wear light.
- Gym shoes. We recommend cross-trainers over running shoes, because they’ll give you better foot support for the types of movement you’ll be doing in class.
- Drink bottle.
- Towel. BODYCOMBAT™ makes for sweaty warriors!
- YOUR FIGHTER SPIRIT!!
For those who's planning to join a BodyCombat class, my advise is - just go, and enjoy the class!! Most importantly, have fun!
